Lenovo on Tuesday had a lot of smartphone announcements to make. It kicked things off with a mid-range Lenovo S5 Pro GT to succeed the S5 Pro. This brings a Snapdragon 660 chipset along with a metal unibody design and a notched display. Next was the Lenovo Z5s which brings a waterdrop display, triple rear cameras and a Snapdragon 710 chipset. Lastly, Lenovo revealed a flagship Z5 Pro model for January 2019 that rocks a Snapdragon 855 chipset and will come with 12GB of RAM.The Lenovo Z5s comes in three variants – 4GB + 64GB, 6GB + 64GB and 6GB +128GB. These are priced at CNY 1398 (approx Rs 14,430), CNY 1598 (approx Rs 16,500) and CNY 1898 (approx Rs 19,500), respectively. The phone will come in Honey Orange, Gray and Titanium Crystal Blue and will go on sale later this month in China.Meanwhile, the souped up new Z5 Pro will be out in January and will be offered in four configurations – 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB. The prices are CNY 2698 (approx Rs 27,800), CNY 2998 (approx Rs 30,900), CNY 3998 (approx Rs 41,200) and CNY 4398 (approx Rs 45,300), respectively. There is no word yet on whether the Z5s and Z5 Pro will be launching globally as of now.Lenovo Z5sThe Lenovo Z5s comes a month after the Z5 Pro slider smartphone. As a flagship smartphone brings a premium design language that includes a 2.5D glass protection on the back that meets a slim metal frame with chamfered edges. The front sees an immersive 6.3-inch FHD+ (2340×1080) display with a droplet notch a very thin chin on the bottom. Lenovo says the Z5s offers a 92.6 per cent screen-to-body ratio and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio.advertisementThe glass back sees a triple camera system placed vertically on the top left corner. There’s also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor placed near the center. The Lenovo Z5s gets a P2i coating that makes it water resistant. Apart from a speaker grille and a Type-C port on the bottom, the Z5s also sees the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack.The Lenovo Z5s runs on a Snapdragon 710 AIE Turbo chipset. Lenovo is claiming the chipset is optimised for improved gaming experience with improved frame rate and reduced latency. The phone also offers a Game Turbo mode that bumps up gaming performance and graphics. The Z5s houses a 3,300mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. It ships with ZUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie.One of the highlights of the Lenovo Z5s is its AI-powered triple cameras on the back. The system consists of a 16MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture and 2x optical zoom, and a third 5MP sensor for depth shots. Lenovo is touting lossless image quality thanks to AI. The cameras promise to deliver great quality photos in daylight and low-light scenarios. Housed in the waterdrop notch on the front is a 16MP selfie camera with 2.0 micron pixels.Lenovo Z5 Pro (2019)Lenovo surprised everyone by announcing its first Snapdragon 855-powered smartphone. The 2019 version of the Z5 Pro will sport the next-gen Qualcomm chipset which clocks at 2.84GHz and is based on a 7nm process. What adds a touch of crazy here is that this is the first smartphone in the world to come with 12GB of RAM. This variant will be offered with 512GB of internal storage. Lenovo Z5 ProThe phone will continue to keep the slider design of this year’s Z5 Pro, which means the display will not see a notch of any kind. The front camera will be hidden in the slider mechanism. So what you get is a near bezel-less 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED display on the front that offers over 95 per cent screen-to-body ratio and HDR 10 support.The dual rear cameras on the Z5 Pro (2019) consist of a 24MP + 16MP configuration, both coming with f/1.8 aperture. The slider mechanism also houses two selfie cameras with a 16MP + 8MP configuration. The Z5 Pro will also be shipping with ZUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie.
