Karl Lacey believes McGuinness can go all the way to the top in professional football management.McGuinness’s success in Ireland with the Donegal GAA team has been well documented and was seen by many as revolutionary figure within the GAA.His success propelled him into a full-time position with Celtic FC. McGuinness initially employed as a Sports Performance Consultant with the Academy sides at Celtic.However, he was quickly promoted to work with the first-team following the arrival of Ronnie Delia to the club.McGuinness is highly regarded at Celtic, and Delia has spoken several times of the importance of McGuinness’s role within his back-room team.McGuinness has began taking his coaching badges and was spotted at several FAI coaching courses over the last number of months. That has sparked speculation that McGuinness is keen to make the crossover from GAA management to professional football management.Lacey feels if that is what McGuinness wants to do then then he will do it and be successful at it.Lacey said, “Jim will go to the top if he really wanted to.“He’s obviously thinking about management or coaching in the soccer club, as he’s doing his badges through the FAI.“I never had the conversation with him about it. But I see he was in Saracens (rugby club) there as well, so he’s opened huge doors for himself.“He’s a big sporting personality in Ireland.
