AMBITIOUS PLAN COULD SEE DUNGLOE GET FREE PUBLIC WI-FI ACCESS

first_imgDungloe could be the first town in Donegal to have free wi-fi for the public.A plan is being put together to breath new life into the town by offering free access to the internet for the centre of the town.Deputy Thomas Pringle and county councillor Michael Mac Gioalla Easbuig have written to the county council about the idea. They say the centre of the town is now practically a ghost-town and something is needed to bring back the public. If successful, councillor Mac Giolla Easbuig said there is no reason why it cannot be rolled out to other towns such as Ardara and Glenties.“We need to do something to breath new life into Dungloe and other towns because nobody is coming into town centres.“If they have an excuse to hang around towns and use free wi-fi in shops and restaurants, then the people will come. “It depends on costings but myself and Thomas Pringle think this could be the spark that breaths new life into our towns.“We have contacted the county council and a costings analysis will have to be done.“But it’s hard to put a value on this when it could save many of our towns,” he said.AMBITIOUS PLAN COULD SEE DUNGLOE GET FREE PUBLIC WI-FI ACCESS was last modified: February 28th, 2015 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:donegaldungloeinternetwi-filast_img
