Sachin Tendulkar, Shikhar Dhawan lead birthday wishes for David Warner

first_imgOn October 27, 1986, one of contemporary cricket’s most exciting batsman was born in Paddington, Australia. He goes by the name of David Warner and he turns 31 today. The southpaw, known for his flamboyant and attacking style of cricket, has won fans the world over. Also known as the ‘The Bull’, and more recently ‘The Reverend’, Warner has changed from an aggressive person on pitch to a composed and much responsible person. Which is also one of the reason behind his teammates changing his nickname.Did you know @davidwarner31 has a new nickname?! A bit of bonus banter in here from skipper @stevesmith49 also… pic.twitter.com/ugVHJxdMXy- cricket.com.au (@CricketAus) December 10, 2016The 31-year-old broke through into the Australian T20 side early in 2009 after his whirlwind innings against Tasmania, where he scored a 54-ball 97 and a 165* against Tasmania before that for the New South Wales. He made his T20 debut against South Africa on January 11, 2009 in Melbourne and an ODI debut followed a week later against the same opposition at Hobart. However, he had to wait for his first Test quite a while but it finally came in 2011 against New Zealand on December. And once he had done that, he has never looked back. His stock has only risen and currently he is the vice-captain of the Baggie Greens and leads the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. Warner has won the 2015 World Cup with the Australian team and led his IPL franchise to the trophy in 2016.He has scored 5705 runs from 66 Tests at an average of 47.94, hitting 20 tons and 24 fifties. In the 50-over-format, he has accumulated 4270 runs from 101 ODIs, averaging 44.94 and hitting 14 centuries and 17 half-centuries. In T20 cricket, he has managed to score 1696 runs from 65 games. In the shortest format of the game however, he averages a little low — 27.35 and has managed to score 12 fifties, with 90* being his highest.advertisementIn the IPL, where he has played for the Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad, he has scored 4014 runs from 114 matches at an average of 40.54, hitting three centuries and 36 fifties.Recently, he has been in the news for his aggressive remarks ahead of the Ashes, which starts on November 23 at Brisbane. He said that Australia will be motivated by their ‘hatred’ for England and the five-match Test series is like ‘war’. However, England’s Stuart Broad calmed the storm by saying that ‘it’s just a game of cricket.’But it will be interesting to see once the series starts next month, how the two fare. But for the day, all’s well and Sachin Tendulkar, Shikhar Dhawan all wished him a happy birthday on social media.Happy birthday, @davidwarner31!
