Twitter/@BigTenNetworkJosh Boutte, an LSU offensive lineman, took a terrible cheap shot on Wisconsin’s D’Cota Dixon at the end of the Tigers’ loss to the Badgers.Boutte was ejected from the game (there were only seconds remaining at the time of the penalty), and will serve a one game suspension, per LSU head coach Les Miles. In his release on the suspension, Miles says that Boutte clocked Dixon “by mistake.”LSU coach Les Miles has suspended OG Josh Boutte for one game. pic.twitter.com/eO8phLU5mr— LSU Football (@LSUfootball) September 5, 2016Dixon intercepted LSU quarterback Brandon Harris with under a minute left in the game, and the Badgers up two. After picking off the pass, Harris went down at the Wisconsin 25 yard line. As he ran across the field in celebration, Boutte blindsides him with a huge hit. It was pretty clear that Dixon was celebrating and not trying to advance the ball, as he was already ruled down, but Miles argues that Boutte was not aware the play was ruled dead. Here is video of the play and subsequent shot from Boutte. You simply can’t watch this D’Cota Dixon game-sealing INT enough.More video ➡ https://t.co/3s22f8TiDr https://t.co/taL2BhbHgf— Big Ten Network (@BigTenNetwork) September 3, 2016Boutte isn’t exactly missing a huge game for the Tigers. LSU hosts FCS program Jacksonville State on Saturday. The one game suspension against an inferior opponent like the Gamecocks is certainly not going to impress critics.LSU vs. Jacksonville State kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will be aired on ESPNU.
