A member of the Canadian Armed Forces, based in Wainwright, Alberta is facing charges of child luring and child pornography after a joint investigation between Canada and the United States.ALERT’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit, with help from Military Police, Alberta Sheriffs and U.S. Homeland Security Investigations, arrested Steven Massey, 32, in Edmonton on June 21, 2017.Massey has been charged with luring, making child pornography and distribution of child pornography. Police say computers and electronics were seized from Massey’s military residence.The investigation began in Laredo, Texas in March, of this year. ICE and Homeland Security believe Massey tried to meet up with a Texas girl for sex.“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) are committed to seekingout and bringing to justice those who prey upon children, and this successful investigation is a good example of that outstanding international collaboration and partnership,” said HSI Ottawa Attaché Melissa Ruiz, in a release.Massey is scheduled to appear in court on June 30.
