Werrington Road is currently closed whilst officers deal with the situation.” A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Werrington Road currently closed near to Ruxley Road due to developments with the domestic incident. Please avoid area to allow officers to work.” Traffic data company INRIX reports the Werrington Road is closed between Ruxley Road and Deaville Road. Send your videos to [email protected] police have been deployed and a woman has been taken to hospital in an ongoing incident which has also led to the closure of a major Stoke-on-Trent road. The A52 Werrington Road is currently closed in Bucknall due to the incident, which police are describing as domestic. One end of Ruxley Road, where the incident started, is also understood to be closed – and police are asking people to avoid the area. A 38-year-old woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries. A police spokesman said: “Firearms officers have been deployed to an address on Ruxley Road, Stoke-on-Trent, following a domestic related incident today. Armed officers at the scene in Ruxley Road Police are understood to have been called to the area at around 9.47am. We have contacted Staffordshire Police for further comment. The woman received leg and facial injuries and was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital. Werrington Road has now been reopened and Ruxley Road will reopen shortly. Following this they entered the property with a battering ram, but the man is believed to have barricaded himself in a room within the building.A dog unit has arrived on scene and has also entered the property.16:05Latest from our reporter at the sceneA police dog unit has arrived in Ruxley Road.16:00Police entering house with a ‘battering ram’Our reporter on the scene has seen officers entering the property with a ‘battering ram’.15:37KEY EVENTStaffordshire Police update…At around 9.45am this morning we were called by colleagues at the ambulance service to reports that a woman had been seriously assaulted at a property on Ruxley Road, Stoke-on-Trent.We are aware there are weapons within the property and armed and unarmed officers were deployed, along with specialist police negotiators who are currently talking to a lone man who is inside the house.The incident is ongoing and Werrington Road remains closed while we deal with the situation.The woman received leg and facial injuries and was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
